I have been in quite a slump lately. I made the mistake a while back of taking on too many consignment items at one time, got behind and discouraged, which seemed to snowball and as the days and weeks passed, it seemed to be harder to get back on top of it. I was embarrassed that I was letting people down but looking at all the items was overwhelming and I just kept getting farther behind.

Then the health issues started. I am 43 now and it had been over 20 years since I had a thorough checkup so I found a new primary care physician and started the process of taking care of some little things that had been bothering me. Nothing major, but a couple required minor surgery, one is requiring physical therapy and I am now getting allergy shots once a week. The problem came when I decided to do it all at once. Between appointments & recovery times and working at PakMail 15 hours a week I found little time to work on my listings. I have been doing the shipping of things that were sold and putting things on Amazon because it is simpler than eBay but meanwhile I am continuing to fall farther behind on those consignment items.

Oh, and on top of all that, because my wife Dawn has health problems of her own AND works her 40 corporate hours a week, I don’t let her do any of the housework. So I also cook dinner every night, do laundry and keep the house (relatively) clean. (BTW, I love my Roomba!)

Whew! I’m tired just writing about it. Now I’m off to the bank, the library and the mailbox. Then back to work on those consignment items! Watch for the listings to start showing up in the next week or so.

Here is a quick tour of my Seller Dashboard. You can find detailed information on the Seller Dashboard Help Page. Keep in mind that this is my view from Selling Manager Pro as a PowerSeller. non-PowerSellers, Selling Manager, My eBay (standard) and My eBay beta may have different views. (If you want to send a screen shot of a different view I will add it to the post)

When I checked My eBay on Thursday I noticed something new. In the upper right was my Seller Dashboard Summary showing my status in six areas with a link at the bottom to go to my Dashboard.

Following the link shows a detailed look at each of the six areas, but first, another look at the Summary and the Detailed Seller Ratings box that PowerSellers have been seeing in the “Lite” version since March.

A closer look reveals a dropdown box that gives comparisons in three different formats.

Your 12-month average / eBay 12-month average
Your 30-day average / eBay 30-day average
Your 30-day average / Your 12-month average

Hovering the mouse pointer over a bar in the graph shows the detail for each rating.

Now to the new information, First up is Search Standing. There are three levels, Raised, Standard and Lowered which can affect where your listings appear in seach when sorted by Best Match. To calculate Search Standing eBay evaluates Buyer Satisfaction and DSR.
Each section has a link to more details or information.

Next PowerSeller Discount. PowerSellers can earn discounts of 5% or 15% on Final Value Fees based on 30-Day DSRs. This area show if the requirements have been met and the amount of the discount.

PowerSeller Status shows the current level for PowerSellers; Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum or Titanium. Clicking the link shows a detail of the requirements for each level and your current standing. I think if you are not a PowerSeller you can still view the details to see where you need to reach.

*Apparently eBay was still working on the Dashboard. Halfway through writing this post the next section showed up, so I had to go back and adjust the first part of the post and the photos.

Policy Compliance lets you know if you are in danger of facing any restrictions due to any policy violations.

Buyer Satisfaction measures customer service by evaluating your 30-day DSR, Feedback score and Buyer Protection Claims (Disputes).

and finally, Account Status gives you a quick view of your balance, a notice of messages and a chance to pay or view your invoice.

One thing that most likely would have prevented the eBay and PayPal takeovers in the first place is the PayPal Security Key. The Security Key is a small key chain sized device that provides an extra layer of secuity by generating a temporary six digit number to be used in conjunction with your user name and password when logging in to PayPal and can also be used on eBay. I signed up for mine over a year ago when they were first announced and have used it ever since. The only drawback, if you can even call it one, is that eBay has you log in again so many times when doing certain things or visiting certain areas and you have to add the six digit code each time.

PayPal was giving them away last year at eBay Live!, but they only cost $5.00, which is basically covering shipping and handling, so don’t wait till June to see if they give them away again.
